Fishing Master Skills: Equip, Finish and Transfer Books
A skill is part of the fish-finishing sequence. Attach it to your rod, keep it available for the finishing marker, and unattach it from the old rod before moving it to a replacement.
Attach a skill and move it to a new rod

Get a skill through the tutorial or skill seller
The creator walkthrough demonstrates buying a skill and attaching it to a rod. Inspect the book and the rod’s available slots in your equipment interface.

Equip the rod that holds the skill
Check that the skill appears in the current fishing controls before starting an encounter. Owning a book and having a usable attached skill are different states.

For a replacement rod, unattach from the old rod first
The current official FAQ explicitly says to unattach the book from the old rod before attaching it to the new rod. Follow the live interface’s confirmation text; the FAQ does not guarantee what every delete/remove button does.

Recheck the new rod’s skill controls
Attach the book to the new rod and verify its slot before returning to the water. Do one ordinary catch to check the transfer.
Save the finish instead of spending it immediately
In the creator’s demonstration, early skill use leaves the ability on cooldown when clicking reaches the white finishing marker. Timing the skill for the end shortens that wait. This supports a practical timing rule, not a universal damage formula or a complete skill tier list.

Quest costs and item counts below come from Bùm Roblox’s test-server walkthrough, reviewed October 3, 2026. Match the live NPC request before spending or handing in fish. Translated names are identified where the current English label is uncertain.

Separate skill slots from spare quest books
More slots let you equip more abilities; unused books are inventory items needed by some quests. Do not attach your last duplicate just because a slot is open. The source narrates later rods and a V2 requirement, but it does not establish a complete current mastery-level-to-slot table.
The sixth-island rod quest described in the rod guide asks for hooking V2 as well as five legendary fish and a coin fee. Keeping a spare book earlier prevents an avoidable second search for that item.
